How to Deal with Hate Crime

Nobody should have to live in fear. Hate crime has a damaging effect on victims and it can make whole communities feel unsafe and unwelcome. Victims are likely to be physically and emotionally distressed and may be forced to move home. They may also feel pressured to changing their behaviour, for example not going out at night.   They may also suffer financial loss, for example through having to make repairs to property.

The good news is that something can be done about hate crime. Systems and protocols can be developed meaning that the victims can be protected and the perpetrators brought to justice.
